A note about the exhibition written by Victoria Culf is as follows:-
It features a collection of works made in response to the changing climate of politics, health, and economics as an antidote to media diatribes. The calming rhythm and certainty of lapping waters have the ability to quiet our souls and remind us we are all part of a bigger picture. Like the ebb and flow of moving tides, so there is an ebb and flow within life, and a greater purpose to aspire to.
So much of the modern world is drenched in offense and individualism, is it not worthy to sit in awe of nature, and quietly contemplate our shared humanity?
We are all made up of 60% water. We all thirst. We share the same sky, the same ocean, and the same earth. We are collectively affected by weather and tidal systems. We are all land dwellers unable to breathe in water but are often drawn to its presence.
‘He leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul”. Psalm 23:2
Whether painted, woven, sewn, or resin, these representations of coastal views share an archetypal narrative of collective consciousness; each artist is drawn to the nostalgia and escapism of environmental meditation.
